The United Kingdom Rework is an active base-map development project with no confirmed completion date. It is not a separate paid DLC, and SCS has not promised a full 2026 release.

The project matters because the UK is one of ETS2's oldest areas. Modern roads, city scale, ports, left-hand traffic junctions, and regional assets can improve the experience for every owner of the base game.

Inverness Preview

The official Inverness feature shows a modernized northern Scottish city with recognizable road and city details. It expands the public evidence for the rework beyond generic promises, while still representing only part of a much larger UK project.

Watch for:

  • Revised approaches and junctions.
  • Local landmarks.
  • More believable river and city placement.
  • Updated companies and depots.
  • Regional road signs and left-hand traffic logic.

Why the Rework Is Complex

  1. Left-hand traffic changes junction and roundabout design.
  2. Legacy geometry and scale need deep rebuilding.
  3. Ports and ferries are central to island logistics.
  4. England, Scotland, and Wales need distinct regional character.
  5. Connections to mainland Europe and the announced Isle of Ireland both matter.

Player Impact

Every ETS2 player can benefit because this is base-map work. The rework is especially relevant to:

  • New players starting in Britain.
  • UK-based fans.
  • Ferry-heavy careers.
  • Players planning routes toward the Isle of Ireland.
  • Mod users whose UK maps may conflict with rebuilt sectors.

What Is Not Confirmed

SCS has not announced the final city list, complete phase order, a full-map launch date, or whether every area will arrive in one update. Do not use Gamescom, an individual city preview, or a beta branch as proof of a final schedule.
