ETS2 Mod Manager Load Order Guide

Load order is one of the first modding problems that feels mysterious. A mod can be installed correctly and still break because another mod overwrites the same files later in the order.

The Most Important Rule

Follow the author's instructions. Map mods, compatibility patches, UI mods, and traffic packs often have specific requirements. A general rule cannot replace a specific readme.

If a mod has no supported version, no clear instructions, and no update history, treat it as risky.

Basic Load Order Thinking

Safe Testing Process

1. Back up your profile.
2. Add a small number of mods.
3. Load a test profile first.
4. Drive a short route.
5. Check for crashes, missing assets, and bad UI.
6. Add the next small group only after the first group works.

Map Mods Need Extra Care

Map mods can require a specific ETS2 version, DLC ownership, connector files, background maps, and exact ordering. They are not beginner-safe just because the download installed successfully.
