ETS2 1.58 moved several public beta features into the full Steam release. It is a smaller update than 1.59, but still useful because it improves training, modernizes vehicle content, and continues laying groundwork for passenger transport.

Main Additions

FeaturePlayer Impact
Driving Academy double-trailer moduleStructured practice for forward driving, steering, and reversing with doubles
Frankie cabin rewardA profile-bound reward for completing the module
Renault Trucks T refreshNew interior options, digital dashboard, camera mirrors, and updated engine options
Achievement adjustmentThe "Academy Graduate" style requirement became less punishing in the related module
Ongoing coach preparationMore signs that passenger transport systems are being prepared across the map

Double-Trailer Training

The new Driving Academy chapter focuses on double-trailer handling. It starts with basic forward control, then moves toward reversing and practical scenarios.

This matters because doubles are where many players discover that normal reversing habits stop working. A dedicated module gives you a controlled place to fail, reset, and learn without losing a real delivery.

Use it before buying or configuring longer trailer combinations. Even if you normally drive automatic, the academy is useful because it teaches space management, steering delay, and trailer angle control.

Renault T Update

The Renault Trucks T refresh adds a more modern cabin feel with new interior finishes, digital instruments, and camera mirrors. It also expands engine options with newer DE13 turbo-compound units.

If you like modern European fleet trucks, the Renault T feels less dated after this update.

Mod Notes

Version 1.58 was a reminder that even "smaller" updates can affect mods. Driving Academy changes, truck definition updates, UI work, and vehicle data can all touch mods that seem unrelated at first.

Before blaming a save file:

  1. Launch once with mods disabled.
  2. Update truck and accessory mods.
  3. Check trailer and physics mods if doubles behave strangely.
  4. Keep a clean test profile for future public betas.

Best Player Fit

Version 1.58 is most useful for players who want structured practice or who spend time in Renault trucks. It is also worth installing before moving to later versions because it is part of the update path that leads into 1.59's broader UI and map improvements.
